RICHIER was a construction plant manufacturer based in Paris, France, that manufactured many types of earthmoving machinery. Ford acquired a controlling stake in this company in 1972 and introduced a new, redesigned model in 1974.

Between 1972 and 1976, excavators were sold under the RICHIER name in France and under the Ford name outside France until 1976, when the Ford name was used worldwide. Ford sold the excavator manufacturing business to Sambron in 1979 or 1980, but continued to sell excavators under the Ford name for a while.
