Benati has existed since 1887 when it was founded in Imola by the entrepreneur Andrea Benati in the late 19th century. Renato Bacchini purchased Benati in 1961 and established Benati Spa to produce excavators and wheel loaders.

In 1961, Benati manufactured its first earth-moving machine, the MAX 80, a crawler excavator.
In 1962, MAX 70 (a fully hydraulic crawler excavator representing the basic model of most excavators manufactured in subsequent years) and the first wheel loader: BEN 35 INDUSTRIAL (completely produced and designed by itself) were manufactured.
In 1963, the first two backhoe loaders equipped with the famous "Giraffe" backhoes were built.

In 2010, Benati Group Srl. re-launched Benati brand machines to the market. These machines have the same quality as those produced in the Imola factory. The most important thing is to provide the same technical support which makes Benati a world-renowned brand. Benati now produces products such as mini excavators, skid steer loaders and wheel excavators.
